Accessibility
We want every parent to be able to use this website. If something here does not work for you, please tell us. We would rather know.
The standard we build to
This website is designed and built against WCAG 2.2 Level AA as its technical target. In practice that has meant:
- Semantic HTML, with landmarks and a logical heading structure on every page
- A skip link to the main content
- Full keyboard operation, with a clearly visible focus indicator
- Text and interface color combinations checked with a contrast measurement tool rather than by eye
- Color never used as the only way of conveying information
- Touch and pointer targets sized generously
- Layouts that reflow to narrow screens and to high zoom without loss of content
- Motion kept subtle and switched off entirely for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion
- Text alternatives on images, and decorative graphics hidden from screen readers
- Links to other websites labeled so it is clear where they lead
Display preferences
The round button in the bottom-right corner of every page opens a small set of display preferences: larger text, more contrast, reduced motion, and underlined links. They change how the site is presented to you and are saved on your device only; nothing is sent anywhere. Your operating system's own settings for text size, contrast, and reduced motion are respected automatically, whether or not you use the panel.
This is not an "accessibility overlay". It adds nothing to the page's code and makes no claim of compliance. The accessibility of this website rests on the structure, keyboard support, contrast, and reflow described above, which are built in.
Known limitations
The website is tested with automated tools and by hand, but no testing catches everything. Links to journal articles lead to publisher websites whose accessibility we do not control. The practice website, lastingrootspediatricdentistry.com, publishes its own accessibility statement.
Tell us about a barrier
If you find a page that does not work with your assistive technology, or anything else that gets in your way, contact Lasting Roots Pediatric Dentistry by phone at (616) 777-3206. Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using, and we will fix it.
